What are the "CA/CFA Pathway" mentioned in the title
The curriculum is structured to align with
the core content requirements for professional certifications like Chartered Accountant (CA)
and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). This allows students to simultaneously prepare for
these certifications alongside their degree, giving them a significant head start on their
professional qualification journey.
Is it mandatory to choose a certification (CA or CFA) or sit for the
professional exams?
No, the decision to sit for the external
professional exams (CA or CFA) is entirely optional. The program is designed to provide the
curriculum and preparation necessary for these pathways. However, the choice to pursue the
official certification, including registering for and taking the external exams, remains
with the student. Your Bachelor's degree from Masters' Union is a stand-alone qualification.
When do I need to choose between the CA or the CFA pathway?
The decision should be made before the
beginning of the course. We offer dedicated pre-enrollment guidance to help you make an
informed choice.
Is switching from CA to CFA allowed?
Yes, in principle, it is allowed, but the process has two parts:
-
Internal Academic Flexibility (Masters' Union): If a student decides in the
first year to switch their focus, then you will not lose the credits from
your academic degree. However, we allow case by case basis in the first
semester only.
-
External Certification (ICAI/CFA Institute): This is the main point of
clarity: you cannot switch credit between the two certification bodies. CA
(ICAI) and CFA (CFA Institute) are independent, external qualifications.
If you pay the registration fee and clear a level of one (e.g., CA
Foundation) and then switch to the other (CFA), you will have to start from
Level I of the new certification. The fees paid for the first certification
are non-transferable and non-refundable to the new certification.
Is switching from CFA to CA allowed?
No, this is not allowed given CA has a lot
of statutory components and a mandatory articleship.
If a student fails a level of the CA or CFA exam, does it affect
their degree?
No, The UG Programme in Finance &
Economics is an independent academic degree. Your Bachelor's degree is awarded solely based
on your successful completion of the required academic coursework, internal exams, and
industry projects mandated by Masters' Union.
Failure in any level of the professional
examinations (CA or CFA) does not affect the student's academic standing or their ability to
graduate with the Bachelor's degree from Masters' Union.
Are there regular practice tests and mentorship support to track
progress?
Yes, regular practice tests, detailed
assessments, and mock exams are an essential part of the program to ensure the student is
exam-ready. We provide extensive mentorship support to partner on the journey and track
progress.

become a fully qualified CA/CFA Charter Holder at the exact same time (i.e., after 4
years)?
No, While the program is 4 years, the
final professional qualification for both CA and CFA will be achieved after you receive your
degree. However, we will prepare you for your final level exams for both the qualifications.
Is there an option to switch to another Masters' Union UG program
(e.g., Tech & Business Management)?
Switching programs is subject to
availability, eligibility criteria, and a formal internal transfer process. It is generally
possible within the first year, provided you meet the academic criteria of the destination
program, though this is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Do we have students doing any of these careers already from TBM?
Yes, students from the UG TBM are already
actively pursuing and securing careers in the targeted finance roles, primarily through

Economics UG course?
No, mathematics in class 12 is not a
mandatory eligibility requirement.
What is the proportion of Finance vs Economics in the course?
The UG Programme in Finance & Economics
with CA/CFA Pathways is primarily weighted towards Finance (Applied), with Economics
(Foundational) serving as a critical supporting pillar. The program uses a strong foundation
in Economics to provide context for a deep dive into Applied Finance, all while being
infused with Data and Technology skills necessary for the modern financial professional.
Since the curriculum is aligned to CA/CFA qualifications, The percentage of Economics in the
curriculum is the same as its weightage in the CA/CFA professional syllabus.
